EPM Perfomance

$

Hello,

I got a quick question:

What are the most fast option or combination from EPM template, in ascendent order. hide/supress

1. Filter (by EPM  Report Editor - Filtering)

2. Rows Empty / Zero Values

3. Exclude Members.

I know everyone got different functionality, but, I would like to know the performance wise what would be the order, or combinations...etc... the best practices

See.. the exclude member is taking too much time when i'm doing CALC = Y or N for two Dimension... and I would like to replace it.

Thanks.

Regards,

Load balancing for EPM Excel

Hello,

We have installed and configured BPC 10 on BW 7.3. The BW system is a distibuted system with a CI and 2AS. I have two questions regarding the load balancing using the EPM axcel Add-in:

- Can we use the message server HTTP load distribution in the Excel EPM ? so instead of using the :http://[Server]:8080/sap/bpc/

we use http://[Server]:8100/sap/bpc/ while 8100 is the HTTP port for the message server. I tried it but i giot always abn error regarding "Autentication Error"

- Does the load balancing using the SAP Web dispatcher work with the Excel EPM Add-on?

Best regards,

Hassan

Hi Gurues!

I'm working in SAP BPC 7.5 version.

I have one macro to send data from an input schedule workbook, that was distributed.

When the file is collected, it was with the state: "offline". So, I need to make it online so, I can refresh data.

It is possible change the park n go value via macro?

BPC 10/10.1 NW with HANA MDX / Member Formulas using property values

$

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to calculate a simple annualized calculation with the following formula in BPC10.1 on HANA with HANA MDX turned ON, this used to work with HANA MDX turned OFF.

([ACCOUNT].[PARENTH1].[MF_SALES_ANN])*(-12/([TIME].CurrentMember.Properties("BASE_PERIOD")))

I tried following the workaround provided in this discussion: BPC 10 NW Member formula using property value but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Is there an alternative for a member formula using properties when you have HANA MDX turned on? I get an "Internal Error" in the member formula editor if I try to use STRLEN and if I check the query in HANA Studio I get the following message:

([ACCOUNT].[PARENTH1].[MF_SALES_ANN])*(-12/(STRLEN([TIME].CurrentMember.Properties("BASE_PERIOD")))

"Could not execute 'MDX WITH MEMBER [Measures].[YTD] AS ...' in 4 ms 521 µs .

SAP DBTech JDBC: [256]: sql processing error: Error occurred while executing a MDX statement. The error message is: The usage of STRLEN in the current context is not supported"

([ACCOUNT].[PARENTH1].[MF_SALES_ANN])*(-12/(STRTOVALUE([TIME].CurrentMember.Properties("BASE_PERIOD")))

Now, if I try using STRTOVALUE in HANA Studio by modifying the query that the EPM Add-in generates, it works but the BPC formula editor gives me the same "Internal Error" while trying to validate the formula.

If I use [TIME].CurrentMember.Properties("BASE_PERIOD") I get the following error because of the different types "string" & "integer" in an arithmetical operation:

Could not execute 'MDX WITH MEMBER [Measures].[YTD] AS ...' in 119 ms 136 µs .

SAP DBTech JDBC: [256]: sql processing error: Error occurred while executing a MDX statement. The error message is: Inconsistent calculation model; $message$=Inconsistent calculation model;calculationNode (N_0141_AGGR) -> attributes -> attribute (H68241575_CM709_/B28/S_SDATA) -> expression:Expression is not valid: Evaluator: type error in expression evaluator;fixed12_13.7 fixed_12(divide(double times(double plus(double double(fixed12_13.7 minus(fixed12_13.7 "R_H68241575_N806__/B28/S_SDATA")), double times(double double(fixed12_13.7 "R_H68241575_N818__/B28/S_SDATA"), double plus(double double(int '1'), double divide(double double(fixed12_13.7 "R_H68241575_N807__/B28/S_SDATA"), double double(fixed12_13.7 "R_H68241575_N803__/B28/S_SDATA"))))), double double(int '1200')), double double([here]times(string "#_PL_682425590/CPMB/IDP5PJT", double "ALIAS_#_CM_68242559_-797741121_68241575_-301345112_/B28/S_SDATA"))))

I know that I could use a very long IIF statement with every single conditional (for each month) but I'm looking for a more "elegant" solution.

Thanks,

SAP BPC NW 10.1 BPF Excel Workbook Hyperlink Error

Hi all,

I am attempting to create a Business Process Flow (BPF) on the web client of an SAP BPC NW 10.1 (specifically it is an RDS Extended Financial Planning V2).

I can create the process template and instance as expected and even deploy and run as expected.

However, in the first step there is a work space and hyperlink to an Excel file and when I attempt to click it it will open Excel, however then give me an error (please see below):

Capture.JPG

When I attempt to open the SAME file without the BPF and simply directly in the EPM Add-In from the ribbon (Open Reports/Input Schedules) there are no issues. In fact if I attempt to hyperlink ANY report or input schedule I get the same above error, but if I open them directly in EPM there is no error.

Could anyone please advise on this?

Disclosure Management - Roll Forward

$

Hi Gurus,

I have a problem related DM roll forward function.

When we roll forward a period, it copies all data repository and word reports. It updates the period in the data repository, which is fine. However; word report remains the same and it doesn't replace the data repository links with the new period. To exemplify; we have a period 2014 Q2. We have one data repository and CMB word report in this period. Of course, CMB report contains tables and floating text which is linked to 2014 Q2/data repository. Once we roll forward as 2014 Q3, CMB report is still linked to 2014 Q2/Data repository.

Is there anyone encounter a similar problem?

Thanks,

Bünyamin

Template protected from modification

Hi,

My environment : SAP BPC NW SP 17, Excel 2013

I encounter the following issue : i create a simple template with an evdre function.

Then, after refreshing the data, i save it on the bpc server as, say "test.xlt" file, without any lock/protection option.

Then, i quit bpc excel and log on again : when i open the dynamic template "test.xlt" file

and i want to modify some cells, it shows a message like : "cells could not be modified because of protected sheet..."

Do you know how to workaround the issue or what is the problem ?

Thanks for your feedback.

Steve.

Transport of Model specific parameters

Hello Experts,

In our Model, we have disabled the ENABLE_HANA_MDX parameter from the system based on certain recommendations. Is there is any way of transporting this configuration to other clients or this needs to be done in respective clients.

Thanks for the help.

Break through in BADI

$

Hello Everyone,

In UJ_VALIDATION tcode on certain Appset ID, I have created some rules based on a certain driver dimension 'ACCOUNT'. Rules 1 to 12 are defined through logic table and work well. Rules 13 onwards are to be processed through BADI "BADI_UJ_VALIDATION_RULE_LOGIC". I have created a custom enh. implementation and then implementated a BADI over this. Assigned an implementing class which has a method do_validation_logic. The entire built looks fine but somehow the logic do not work.

Now to make the BADI logic work, I have 4 questions:

1) In UJ_VALIDATION transaction, the text_box to input the BADI's name is not present. It simply is disappeared. Will the click on BADI button then by default take the above mentioned BADI.

2) Even though I have put a break-point, after save of data on BPC, the debugger does not break into the above method. Can any one indicate as to why this may happen. Debug user is assigned to the relevant BPC user. Also as mentioned in the blog "Troubleshooting BPC NetWeaver Data Manager Packages", I have put an external breakpoint to the run_package method, and the debugger successfully breaks into this method, but no further processing happens.

3) Do I have to create a filter necessarily? The filter can be created by the combination of Application ID, Dimension, and Rule Number.

4) DO_VALIDATION_LOGIC method has a parameter IS_DATA. What kind of structure and data this parameter holds.

Please suggest in addition to above, if I may have missed any more vital points.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Pankaj.

Automated DM Execution Based on Dynamic Selections

$

Introduction

One of the biggest short coming when it comes to loading transaction data in BPC is lack of variable based selection. This document is an attempt to address this issue by automating the Data Manager execution using values as desired during run-time. There are certain discussions around the same but I thought of sharing a working solution that could be helpful for others as well.

Software Components

The scope of this document is restricted to executing a Data Manager package based on a simple business scenario.

Software Components

- SAP BPC 10.0 on SAP NW BW(7.31)

- EPM Addin - Version 10 SP21 .NET4

Business Case

You are required to automate the transaction data load from BW to BPC. The planning cycle is monthly. Data Manager package must execute for current period without any manual intervention every month.

Approach

There are various ways to execute a Data Manager Package. Some of them are:

However, none of these approaches can enable a variable based execution of a DMP. We are considering a case where we have to load data every month for the current period without manual intervention. In BW data loads, we can select variables or write selection routines in DTP/InfoPackages to do that. BPC does not provide variable based selections for data load out-of-the-box. BPC also lacks in terms of selection options like "not equal to" or wild card.

What we will be trying is to write a program with a selection screen and the program itself will generate the answer prompt which can then be passed along with other values are required in the program UJD_TEST_PACKAGE.

Here is how the selection screen would look like:

Selection Screen.jpg

For the purpose of explanation - Fiscal Year/Period has been included in the selection screen. It can be used behind the scenes as well. Just to make the program a little more flexible, an option for transformation file selection is also added. This will help to test different transformation files if required.

We will be loading data for current period in our planning model. Here is what the program is doing:

The following declaration will be required to generate answer prompt. This class contains horizontal tab separation as we have declared below.

CLASS cl_abap_char_utilities DEFINITION LOAD.

CONSTANTS: c_tab TYPE c VALUE cl_abap_char_utilities=>horizontal_tab.

Selection screen:

SELECTION-SCREEN BEGIN OF BLOCK blck1.

PARAMETERS: bpc_env TYPE uja_appl-appset_id OBLIGATORY LOWER CASE,

bpc_mod TYPE uja_appl-application_id OBLIGATORY LOWER CASE,

bw_iprov TYPE rsinfoprov OBLIGATORY LOWER CASE,

bpc_pak TYPE uj_package_id OBLIGATORY LOWER CASE,

bpc_trfl TYPE uj_string OBLIGATORY LOWER CASE,

             bpc_tid TYPE /bi0/oifiscper OBLIGATORY."Selection field

SELECTION-SCREEN END OF BLOCK blck1.

We are initializing the bpc_tid which is the variable for fiscal period with the current period.

INITIALIZATION.

CONCATENATE sy-datum+0(4) '0' sy-datum+4(2) INTO bpc_tid.

Generating answer prompt:

The answer prompt as per thread mentioned earlier has to look like below:

DM Log.jpg

We will define string variables for each of these lines and later concatenate them as a single answer prompt.

It would be better to ensure that only required fields are selected in the DMP so that it is easier to generate string.

Note - Low value for 0FISCPER - It is bpc_tid.

CONCATENATE '%InforProvide% ' c_tab bw_iprov cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lfINTO ip_sel .

CONCATENATE '%SELECTION%' c_tab '<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?><Selections xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">' INTO bpc_sel.

CONCATENATE bpc_sel '<Selection Type="Selection"><Attribute><ID>0FISCPER</ID><Operator>1</Operator><LowValue>' bpc_tidINTO sel_fld.

CONCATENATE sel_fld '</LowValue><HighValue /></Attribute><Attribute><ID>0VERSION</ID><Operator>1</Operator><LowValue>001</LowValue><HighValue /></Attribute></Selection>' INTO sel_fld.

CONCATENATE sel_fld '<Selection Type="FieldList"><FieldID>0ACCT_TYPE</FieldID><FieldID>0CHRT_ACCTS</FieldID><FieldID>0COMP_CODE</FieldID><FieldID>0COSTCENTER</FieldID>' INTO sel_fld.

CONCATENATE sel_fld '<FieldID>0CO_AREA</FieldID><FieldID>0DOC_CURRCY</FieldID><FieldID>0FISCPER</FieldID><FieldID>0FISCVARNT</FieldID><FieldID>0GL_ACCOUNT</FieldID>' INTO sel_fld.

CONCATENATE sel_fld '<FieldID>0PCOMPANY</FieldID><FieldID>0PROFIT_CTR</FieldID><FieldID>0VERSION</FieldID></Selection></Selections>' cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf  INTO sel_fld.

    CONCATENATE '%TRANSFORMATION%' c_tab  '\ROOT\WEBFOLDERS\ENVIRONMENT\MODEL\DATAMANAGER\TRANSFORMATIONFILES\' bpc_trfl'.XLS' cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf INTO sel_trfl.

       CONCATENATE '%TARGETMODE%' c_tab '1' cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf INTO sel_tm.

       CONCATENATE '%RUNLOGIC%' c_tab '0' cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf INTO sel_rl.

       CONCATENATE '%CHECKLCK%' c_tab '0' INTO sel_cl.

CONCATENATE ip_sel sel_fld sel_trfl sel_tm sel_rl sel_cl INTO aprompt.

Notice that each variable is separated by c_tab as we have declared earlier. Also, at the end of each line of answer prompt, we have cl_abap_char_utilities=>cr_lf. This is required as this is how lines are separated by SAP program.

Now that the answer prompt is ready, we have to feed the selection screen of UJD_TEST_PACKAGE.

SUBMIT ujd_test_package

         WITH appl = bpc_mod

         WITH appset = bpc_env

         WITH group = bpc_group

         WITH if_file = uj00_cs_bool-no

         WITH if_msg = uj00_cs_bool-no

         WITH if_sync = uj00_cs_bool-yes

         WITH package = bpc_pak

         WITH prompt = aprompt

         WITH schedule = '<SCHEDULING><IMMEDIATE>Y</IMMEDIATE><STATE>0</STATE><PERIOD>N</PERIOD></SCHEDULING>'

         WITH team = bpc_team

         WITH user = sy-uname

EXPORTING LIST TO MEMORY AND RETURN.

You can incorporate more flexibility and options based on your ABAP expertise and knowledge. When you execute this program, it will trigger the DM package and all the selections will be taken from the selection screen.

DMP Execution Log.jpg

I have attached the sample code. You will need to modify it based on your source InfoCube/DSO, selection parameters and anywhere else specific to your case.

Now you can schedule your DMP to load for the current period at the time of data load without any manual intervention.

IE, Excel and EPM compatibility issues

Hi,

We’ve one user who is having issues with input schedules in BPC ( As soon as a value is entered and moves onto next cell, value disappears). Same input schedules works for all users except this user whose PC has difference of 2013 excel. I’m wondering if Excel 2013 is compatible with BPC 10.1.

Also, we are seeing another issue on IE browser (IE 10 on BPC 10.1) caching of BPC web admin not displaying documents properly for the 1st time (changing context to parent member shows document properly. Now, changing  back to the 1st selected context also works so document doesn't show up the very 1st time). This issue is for all users.

For these issues, I’ve found SAP note 2113022 that talks about EXCEL and IE should be on same bit levels like 32-bit or 64-bit. Is this true and if not, it may cause these issues? Any other factors might be causing these issues.

Appreciate your help.

EPM Customize Data Manager Package /CPMB/COPY

Hi,

I would like to use a customized /CPMB/COPY Data Package within my BPC application.

All the information I've found so far explained that I've to place a variable after the "TASK(/CPMB/CM_CONVERT,SELECTION,%SELECTION%" since I can't change the %SELECTION% variable because it contains some other string for the correct selection. I've tried many different scenarios but the attached string is not taken into account within my selection. I've checked the the behavoir with the debugger and my string doesn't even appear .... has there been a major change to the concept of Data Packages?

Thankful for any hint!

Uploading text nodes: conversion file does not work | BPC 10.0

$

Hi gurus,

I am uploading master data and hierarchy from infoobject 0COSTCENTER to my BPC dimension ZCECO.

I've followed the "How To - Import Master Data and Hierarchies into SAP BusinessObjects BPC 7.5 from SAP NetWeaver BW".

I am in BPC 10.0 NW SP 21.

I am facing with a problem with the import of text nodes, which have an ID concatenated with the Controlling Area. I want to import them without Controlling Area. For example: in BW I have a text node "P0011ES401P" and I need to convert it in "1ES401P" for BPC dimension. The Controlling Area is "P001".

The cost center's ID does not have concatenated the Controlling Area. For example: In BW I have the ID "3401111001" and when I upload, I see in the dimension sheet "3401111001" as a member (without Controlling Area prefix)

I am using the package /CPMB/IMPORT_IOBJ_MASTER to upload master data and text nodes. When I run it, the text nodes are imported with the Controlling Area prefix. The conversion file does not work.

This is my transformation file:

2015-09-10_0950.png

This is my conversion file "CECO_CONVERSION.xls":

2015-09-10_0953.png

This conversion file should work. But not.

When I run el package /CPMB/IMPORT_IOBJ_MASTER, this is my set selection for 0COSTCENTER:

2015-09-10_1006.png2015-09-10_1007.png

2015-09-10_1009.png2015-09-10_1009_001.png

I've tried to import in several ways, with external/internal format and with update/overwrite option. I've tried all combinations and the result is the same. I don't manage to remove the Controlling Area prefix.

Due to I could not convert data with conversion file level, I also tried to make the conversion data at transformation file level. But my problem is that my text nodes do not have the same lenght in their ID's. For this reason, I can not put something like this in *MAPPING:

ID=*IF(ID(1:4)=*STR(P001) Then ID(5:14);ID)

I get an error of "command failed: end position is out of record index". I explored about this error and the solution was using the conversion file instead the transformation file, but neither.

I make sure that I put the correct transformation file into the prompt of the package and I have the correct name of my conversion file in *CONVERSION part of transformation file.

The fact is that I am able to import text nodes without Controlling Area prefix (as I want), but I have to run again the package and using another transformation file. But I want to get it in one step, as the How To explains.

I would appreciate any help,

Kind regards,

Manu
