BPC 10.1 - Embedded - AFO - BPF - Work Status

Hi Experts,

 

We recently migrated to BPC 10.1 Embedded (CPMB 810 SP - 0008) and using Analysis For Office (AFO).... When I try to build Work Status, I am facing the following issues -

 

When it comes to Work Status Configuration I selected only Owner Dimension and I didn't selected any other dimension (as they are optional) and also selected the option Set Work State by Infoprovider... Hope this is fine

 

1. In AFO (Version 2.3.0), I was able to see Work Status option but it is always grey out even though other options like Save Data, Display, Change etc are enabled in Planning section

 

2. In BPF - Activity Creation, I created a hyperlink with Target Action as Work Status and selected the option Automatically executed on a change of activity status.  When I try to validate, it validated successfully.  But when I try to create an instance, hyper link relating to work status is deactivated.

 

I am not sure whether I am doing correctly or not.. Could anyone help me out.

Importing Multiple Categories and Running Default Script

Hi Experts

I’d like to modify our existing Default logic to allow for the import of multiple categories from a cube in one import.

I know there’s a limitation as noted in the note: http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1498049

That limits account transformation (ABC) to one category.

 

Is this still the case?  We are using BPC NW 10.1 SP09 on BW7.4  This note is from 12/8/2010. 

 

One alternative is to run the import one category at a time.

Any other ideas?

 

 

The main part of the default script is below – green notes where we attempted to shift from the stand-alone Category to part of the OTHER statement.

Issue I’m encountering is that even when running the import for one Category the default script updates other categories e.g. import ESTIMATE data the default script runs for ACTUAL…

What is a best way to report data out of BPC models.

Please suggest on below:

A. Report directly on top of BPC models using BO.

B. Retract information in to BW system and then report using BEX and BO.

C. Use EPM reports.

Import (Modify) members Dimension Flat File SAP BPC 10.1NW

Hi,

 

I'm trying to change some members of a dimension.

 

I am using the following package:/CPMB/IMPORT_DESCRIPT

 

It is required to update the description of the member and the value of another property, I am using the following transformation file:

The package runs successfully but only updates the property description and does not update the value of the property "PAIS"

 

As I can update other properties of the dimension of a flat file?

I'm so confused about the different functionalities between SAP BPC 10.1 Embedded and Standard, taking into account the end-user point of view.

I know the technical difference between both versions, but I need some arguments to propose our clients about choosing one of them.

BPC Embedded in 10.1 with S4H and sFin Data Control ??

Hi All,

 

1) If a customer already invested in BPC 10.0 standard model on HANA and now going for S4H and sFin, do the customer need to migrate/redo all the Planning and consolidation again in Embedded if they wish to have only one BPC system ?

 

I understand we cannot share Models / Dimensions between Classic and Embedded as they have different name space, classic is Top down (meaning Model is created in BPC Web and it generates relevant cubes and Info objects in BW) whereas Embedded is bottom up (first you create Info objects , then real time info cube and Aggregate Input ready query for Planning input etc.)

 

What would be the best approach in this scenario ?

 

If they have both Classic and Embedded (can the users and Authoriztions etc. be shared between systems (e.g Validations etc.)

 


2) In BPC embedded data is in HANA DD with no replication required -- Actual data is available in Realtime in BPC -- Is there any control mechanism in place so that if we want to hold say current period data not to be in BPC for any reason (can we do ??)

 

3) In BPC Embedded Do we have BPC web at all (like in BPC classic) ...Or is it replaced by Eclipse tool (Unified platform or something like this ?)

 

4) My understanding is that BPC embedded with S4H and sFin in place, only one source of Truth (No data replication is required), in this case, can someone throw more light on how ECC (application tables data is made available in the Planning cubes)

 

(In classic we create Data sources and extract data into BW and then into BPC)

Comments in BPC EPM

Hi All,

 

While saving the comment from BPC EPM to BW, need to modify the comment. But unable to find any BADI / Customer Exit which gives the comments entered by the user.

 

For example ; User has entered Comment : 'Testing Scenario' . This comment is getting saved in the respective Table ( /1CPMB/**CMT). But before it is getting saved, I need to modify the record as 'Test Scenario Modified'.

 

 

I have tried with UJR_WRITE_BACK and UJ_CUSTOM_LOGIC. Both the BADIs are not giving me the comments entered by the user. Is there any other BADI or Customer Exit to serve this purpose ? Or is there any other way to do this ?

Linking Two Dimension in BPC for CAPEX Planning

This is Wasem.

I am facing an issue on a requirement, Can anyone suggest a way to do this requirement.

 

Details:

 

we have two different dimension one is C_PROJECT (stores the project codes) and C_DESCRIPTION (used for Capex Description).

 

 

C_Description is multi-selection for each and every project and there is no fixed count on the list in template for C_Description for the projects. Now the requirement is whenever I select any particular project from the context then the relevant Capex description which are created during planning for that particular project should only appear in report/template and all other C_Description should not be displayed.

 

 

Eg: Below are the list for dimension members for the respective dimensions

 

 

C_PROJECT C_DESCRIPTION

PROJ1 DESC1

PROJ2 DESC2

PROJ3 DESC3

  DESC4

  DESC5

  DESC6

 

For         proj1     Desc1=100

                                Desc2 =200

 

                Proj2     Desc3=1000

                                Desc4 =1200

 

                Proj3     Desc1 =100

                                Desc4=100

                                Desc5=1000

 

Now in the above example when I select Proj1 then I should only see Desc1, Desc2 and provision for new descriptions as well.

For Proj2 it should display Desc3 and Desc4.

For Proj3 then I should be able to see Desc1, Desc2, Desc4, Desc5 only and provision for new descriptions.

I have to upload flat files where I have two columns for Months (From Month and To Month). Example Jan.2014 (Under From month), Jul.2014 (Under to month), a seperate column avaialble for data. Can you please let me know how to write transformation file

I am getting memory dump. Can you please let me know how to handle this case. I have more than 3Million records to be fetched from the cube.


I filled the LT_SEL with respective values, when I give a single value account, I am able to fetch without any issues for the same code.

Use BPC infoobjects for IP Cube

Hi  Gurus,

 

One of our client has a user base of 1000 and client can afford only 30 BPC licenses. For the remaining users the proposal is to have planning solution in BW IP.

 

Wondering if it is a good idea to use BPC created infoobjects ( or may be not directly but use Z infoobject referencing BPC Infoobjects )  for the BW IP build. We think we could leverage on BPC master data directly in the IP solution.

 

If any of you have done this past, it would be good if you could share your experience and challenges you have faced.

 

Also what are the advantages and disadvantages of this approach?

Necessary User right to load BW transactional data to BPC

Hey guys,

 

we are currently facing some issues in giving people enough rights for starting a data manager package respectively a package link, to load transactional data from BW to BPC.

After the user selected the package to start, and attempts to set the prompts we receive the message:

So we do understand there is an issue with the user rights, but it is actually a user enabled data manager package so not only for Admins, so they should be able to run it.


The rights we gave them in the BPC admin client

The standard  BPC roles has also been assigned to the user (POA_BUI_FLEX_CLIENT, POA_BUI_UM_USER).

So we thought it might be the case that the user is missing the right to work with the required DSO (DataStore Object) but he also has these rights:

So actually we all are wondering what there is missing....

 

The trace in st01 in BW actually showed that the user requires all team task profiles from BPC -> is that really necessary??

 

Does somebody have any idea? If you require any further information please let me know!

Hi All,

 

Recently we performed system copy from BPC production to BPC dev to sync the objects b/w systems.

 

I have written one script log to increase the Budget data with help SDN and while running the data manager package getting above error.

 

I have checked in t.code UJFS and there is not Script file Budget data increase in below mentioned path.

 

BW > UJFS > Root\Webfolder\ApShell\Systemlibrary\LogicLibrary

 

Kindly help me.

Using property in Allocation

Hello All,

 

I need to use the property to derive the value for USING clause in the allocation script. I read that using property in allocation works in Microsoft version and I tried in NW but it is not working. Following is the statement in the allocation script which I am trying to get the value from TIME dimension property LAST_PERIOD.

My allocation percentages are stored in the last month (Dec) of the year.  If I run the following alloc script for 2016.01, 2017.01 then it should use percentages USING = 2016.12, 2017,12 for that year.  Note: LAST_PERIOD property has values 2016.12 for all the 2016 periods.

Preventing zero value records from getting exported, on running EXPORT Data Manager Package

Hi Experts,

 

We are using BPC standard Data Manger Package, ‘Export Transaction data to Application Server’ to automatically export data from BPC to client application server every hour. We are using ‘SIGNEDDATA’ measure, while exporting BPC data to application server. Throughout the day many other automatic calculations run on the system that post data in BPC. These calculations first clear the data for a particular audittrail, and then repost the newly calculated values. Clearing data values, leads to many duplicated records being posted in BW, so as to accumulate the member intersection value to 0.

Light optimize is run once every day, which aggregates the positive and negative values and eliminates records with 0 value.

The issue is that during the day, when data export is being sent from BPC to application server, these redundant values (+ve and -ve values generated when CLEAR is run) also get transported, increasing the size of the data manyfolds. Is there a way through which we can somehow prevent these unwanted values from getting transported to the application server?

We are currently working on BPC NW 10.0 SP 25.

Error message when processing member formula with audit dimension

Hello all,


I am trying to create a member formula to get a Metric in Consolidation model and in Planning model.


This metric has to multiply the Operating Income by a Tax Rate. But this Tax rate is populated from different destinations and I just have to get the value saved with GLOBAL id member in the AUDIT dimension.

 

I had to create two different accounts, one for Cons model and other for Planning model, this because the AUDIT dimension is different for each model.

Consolidation model has AUDITSOURCE dimension and Planning model has AUDITTRAIL dimension.


The member formula to calculate the account in Consolidation model is been processed successfully and the result is OK but when processing the member formula to calculate the account in Planning model I'm getting an message error, the one that you can see in the attached image.


I'm attaching the calculation into the member formula too.

 

Do you have any idea how can I solve this?
